July 20, 2026, is half way between our June 27th 50th anniversary and my August 7th 75th birthday.

The date of Monday, July 20, 2026 has become definite, so it is safe to start making your travel plans whenever you wish. I have gotten the OK from the bar manager and have made arrangements with the 2 classic rock bands that will play that evening.

We plan to have the event at The Fling Cocktail Lounge, 2370 N. Tustin Ave, Santa Ana, California (714-547-8972) from 4 PM till 9 PM. A less loud band will play from 4 PM to 8 PM that will be more condusive to conversation. For die hards that want to stay late along with us, a louder classic rock band will play from 9 PM until at least Midnight. We'll probaby do festivities, like cutting a cake, at about 6 PM. So if you want to head home or back to your hotel anytime after that, feel free to do so.

Everyone is invited! Fling will be open to the public during our event, but there usually aren't many customers there on Mondays. Monday tends to be the least busy day at The Fling.

We plan to have a car service on standby all evening for both those staying at nearby hotels without transportation, as well as those who live nearby and don't want to worry about driving home sober. If you decide to leave your car in The Fling parking lot overnight, see Stephen or Barbara for a sign to put in your dash so they won't tow your car. If you are flying in, try to book a hotel near either our Anaheim House or The Fling. There is a list of suggested hotels below.

Air Travel:

I recommend flying into John Wayne Airport, Orange County (SNA). It is served by Southwest Airlines, American Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Allegian Air, Air Canada, Breeze Airways, JSX Air, and WestJet. It is just a few miles from The Fling Cocktail Lounge and 17 miles from our Anaheim House. You may find a lower cost direct flight into Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), but it is about a 35 mile and at least a 40 minute drive to the hotels near both my Anaheim House and The Fling. It is a relatively expensive ride by Uber, Lyft or taxi. But, sometimes you can get an airfare so much lower than flying into Orange County (SNA), that it may be worth the inconvenience. Alternatively, you might be able to fly into Long Beach Airport (LGB) which is about half the distance of flying into Los Angeles.

Amtrak Train Travel:

If you come in by Amtrak train, the closest station served by Amtrak trains from the east (Amtrak Southwest Chief) is the Amtrak Fullerton Station which is 12 miles from my Anaheim House.
